At KDI Wealth Management, our clients' success is powered by our dedicated team. Behind every engagement, every innovation, and every success are unique individuals driven by passion, purpose, and personal journeys. Our "Getting to Know You" blog series aims to pull back the curtain and introduce you to the remarkable team members who bring our firm to life.

I've always felt there's something kind of magical about growing your own food and then turning it into something delicious. These two loves of mine: digging in the garden and creating in the kitchen - just naturally fit together in the most satisfying way.
When I'm out in my garden, I feel this incredible sense of peace. There's something about getting my hands dirty that just feels right, you know? Planting those tiny seeds is like making a little promise to yourself. And then watching them pop up through the soil? Pure joy! Sure, gardening takes patience, waiting for plants to grow, dealing with those pesky weeds, shooing away the critters who think you planted a buffet just for them, but it’s worth it when harvest time comes around.
And then there's cooking. My kitchen is where the magic happens! Taking raw ingredients and transforming them into something that makes people's eyes light up when they take that first bite and that feeling never gets old. I love how cooking engages all your senses: hearing that happy sizzle when veggies hit the pan, smelling those amazing aromas that fill the house, seeing all those bright colors come together on a plate. It's like creating a little bit of art you can actually eat!
But when these two passions come together? That's when things get really special. There's nothing quite like running out to the garden to snip some fresh basil for your pasta sauce or picking tomatoes that are still warm from the sunshine. Store-bought just can't compare to something you grew yourself and picked minutes ago, the flavor is on a whole different level!
This garden-to-table connection makes every meal feel more meaningful. In spring, I get excited about those first tender greens for salads. Summer brings so much abundance it's almost overwhelming (anyone who's grown zucchini knows what I'm talking about!). Fall gives us those hearty squashes and root veggies that make perfect comfort food. Even in winter, I'm cooking with things I preserved or hardy greens that tough out the cold.
What I plant affects what I cook, and what I love to eat determines what I grow. It's a happy little cycle. And there's something really special about knowing exactly where your food came from because you were there every step of the way! When you've watched something grow for months, you definitely appreciate it more and try to use every bit of it.
For me, gardening and cooking together remind us of what really matters. Staying connected to our food, to the seasons, and to each other. Whether you've got acres of land or just a few pots on your windowsill, growing even a little bit of what you eat makes cooking and sharing meals so much more meaningful and fun!
I think about how my passions for gardening and cooking actually have so much in common with what I do as a financial advisor at KDI Wealth Management. In all three areas, there's this beautiful blend of patience, nurturing, and eventually enjoying the fruits of your labor! Just like I carefully select seeds based on what I want to harvest later, I also help clients plan for their future goals. There's that same need for regular attention and care - I water my garden and adjust for changing conditions, while we also monitor portfolios and adapt to market shifts. And transformation! I turn raw ingredients into nourishing meals, and transform our clients' hard-earned money into security and opportunity. There are seasons too - gardening has its planting and harvesting times, cooking follows seasonal ingredients, and I guide clients through different financial seasons of life. Most importantly, though, is how personal these processes are. Whether I'm sharing a homegrown meal with loved ones or helping a family plan for college or retirement, it's all about creating something meaningful and watching it flourish over time. That sense of authentic care and stewardship is at the heart of what makes both of my passions and my role at KDI Wealth Management so rewarding.
